I don't recall giving my permission though. I don't recall allowing Cassandra Clare to wreck havoc on my soul and stomp on its pieces before scattering them to the wind. But she did it anyway.
So yeah, if you haven´t read this yet, PICK IT UP! Do not let your opinion on Lady Midnight influence your decision. This was 10 times better. I cannot wait for the final book!!

A good second instalment. It doesn't beat the first one, but it doesn't have to. The pain that Clare puts her characters through is heartwrenching, she truly isn't afraid of making her favorites suffer. I really appreciate the important topics in our "mundane world" that Clare takes her time to discuss. She does it with care and I also like how she throws in casual representation without much flare. Different people just gets to exist. My only criticism is that any time Clary and Jace enters the show they are praised to be godly superheroes that look slim and tiny and perfect and can do no wrong. I would exchange all mentions of them with more Bane and a mention of Isabelle.

I can't believe I ever gave this book 4 stars. This is a masterpiece. I'm gonna cry myself to sleep now. I did NOT remember the ending being this chaotic and devastating. It was so fucking good. I'm in tears. I hated it.
