I enjoyed this. It’s very good on anxiety but I was so disappointed with the ending. Why can’t good things happen to anxious people?
3.5
~ enjoyed the story and loved how it ended because if it ended any other way I would have been pissed off. Really showed the reality of many interracial couples.
~ all the other topics that were explored such as: problem faced within the BIPOC community etc
But
omg Nur was so f****** annoying honestly, keep repeating the same things over and over and honestly I started to believe it’s not the people around him but actually himself. He never gave anyone the chance to proven themselves but he always just assumed.
I honestly can’t get that mad because I believe that was the whole point of the book but gosh it got exhausting reading it over and over.

This was a nice book. I appreciate the talks about mental health and how everyone in the story are there for each other and love each other.

Listened to the audiobook and was gripped throughout however I do have some bones to pick with the main character - hiding your black gf from your family for over FOUR years because you're scared of how they will react to her is unforgivable and racist in my opinion. The excuses he would make about his family not accepting her was only shielding his guilt and internalised shame/racism about dating outside of his race and quite honestly it was really disheartening to read. I get that culture clashes within relationships are hard to navigate but cmon, if you really loved the person surely things like that become so minute. I liked how it was written from a male perspective - romance's rarely do that and the descriptions of the MC's anxiety and depression were realistic, within being too far fetched.

I generally enjoyed this book, it was interesting to see a bit about a interracial couple with more similar cultures but still how there were differences that were hard to overcome. I did struggle with the timeline, I could never remember what had happened where, so the story felt quite disjointed. I don't think the book benefitted from that format particularly.
