Disappointing. While the premise was intriguing and the fluidity of the writing captivates the reader long enough to finish the novel, the way the story comes together feels disappointing. Clues and red herrings are thrown in such a way that the "twists" seem neither shocking nor believable. Build up of certain plot points are done awkwardly and too obviously. The inclusion of certain sexual elements also seems unnecessary, done as some weird "fan service" to an audience this book does not even seem to cater to.

There's an addictive quality to Lucy Foley's thrillers, and this one was no exception. Somehow I hated the characters while simultaneously feeling sorry for them - especially Miranda. Although I started the book hoping she was the one who died, I ended it wishing that she had had the chance to build a new life for herself. I also appreciated how neatly the various storylines tied together, it made for a really satisfying resolution.

Sometimes you need a sexy little thriller about terrible people.

This was my second Lucy Foley book and I enjoyed it more than the first - perhaps because I was already acquainted with her style of writing and the formula of her mysteries? It bothered me that four of the POVs were in first person and one in third person, but I found the mystery enthralling and I liked the ending. Definitely recommend the audiobook.

I really enjoy her writing and the characters she created in this book, but the ending was a bit dull and happened too quickly. It didn't feel satisfying. Including the perspective of the murderer in the epilogue would've been nice instead of getting that information through another character's perspective, but it wouldn't have changed my mind on the ending feeling rushed. I think Heather & Doug were my favorite characters overall, but none of them were written poorly. Overall, I enjoyed everything except the last few pages of the climax.
