Very biased towards Western thought. Didn’t feel balanced in its portrayal of the DPRK so I had difficulty engaging with the material fully.

I really liked this book, it was really fascinating to learn about North Korea and its people. I like that the authors interviewed a variety of North Koreans (defectors, diplomats, etc.) to get an ideal sense of the place and even when they felt their sources weren't reliable they would often footnote and mention that.
