I enjoyed the hollander notes a lot and had a fair few laughs. This book is very dense with lots of notes, Im sure you can find more pared down translations, however there were many perhaps superfluous notes that i did enjoy and helped with the context of the book greatly.

this is the ultimate historical fan fiction and It’s Awesome. This book is dark and tragic, yes, but also absurdly comical. I thoroughly enjoyed John Ciardi’s translation and all the notes he provided. It is excellent.
