This book is a must-read. I feel that it could be a conversation starter for girls and women who have experienced sexual harassment, and it can help you get girls to understand what is not acceptable.

Powerful, important read.

Oooh, this is a cringey book. Mila's reaction to being targeted for sexual harassment by the basketball team is so believable, and so are the obstacles she faces in trying to make it stop--a clueless guidance counselor, a teacher who doesn't see, one friend who doesn't get why she hasn't already gone to the vice principal and another who thinks it's "just flirting." The characters all feel real, with their own believable sets of concerns and distractions. Mom knows something wrong but she's lost her job and thinks it's just regular friend stuff that will blow over; the band teacher is more concerned about who's first trumpet. The message to be loud and hold your space is empowering. But will kids read it?

This is a very important book for anyone to read. It’s so well written, about an important topic. It’s a good reminder for me as a teacher that I never know what kids are going through and to keep watch. ❤️ Loved it.

Mila, is first perplexed and then quickly floored when a group of boys starts paying her way too much attention. Her friendships suffer, her homelife - already strained - gets worse, and her self-esteem shatters. She doesn't know what to do or where to turn.

Truly middle level, I gobbled this compelling and convincing story of school-based sexual harassment in one sitting. My students are SO into this book, probably because it is loaded with relatable drama. Recommended.

When I was in elementary school (around 10 or 11), a guy on the public tranport vehicle sat next to me and put his hand on my thigh. I didn't understand why he did it, but I remembered feeling dirty. So I got off the vehicle 2 blocks from school and walked the rest of the way. That was my first brush with sexual harrassment.

I think it is really important to talk to children about a sensitive topic like this. It shouldn't be tolerated or taken lightly. No one should ever have to suffer something so traumatizing, especially a child.

I think this book tells a really important story. Something that everyone should be aware of. I like how this was narrated from a pre-teen's point of view. It's such a tender age but at the same time it's also a time when kids start to understand some adult issues. Honestly, I would have given this a higher rating but I just didn't like how quickly Mila's issues with her "friends" were resolved.
