(Disclaimer: I received this book from the publisher. This has not impacted my review which is unbiased and honest.)

Forget Me Not begins with a fabulous premise which asks us what would happen if we forgot. If those revelations, new friendships, and tender love would disappear. Could we find our way back? What would it be like to be the one forgotten? To witness the traces of love fading into the background? Forget Me Not is emotional and tender. It oozes love and longing from the beginning.

To realize that for Stevie it's a process of loss - both of her love (which she doesn't remember) and the vision of herself. Not only is it a joy to see Stevie come into herself, but also to witness the letters from Nora. How many things about ourselves, our lives, and our futures can change in a moment. There's this immediate sense of tension - will Stevie remember? But Derrick explores this story while also asking what pieces of ourselves are hidden within.

This is a beautiful book about identity, literally rediscovering yourself and finding out what you want in life.

Stevie and Nora are secretly in love in their small-minded town. They are planning to leave it all after the summer between high school and college. But everything changes when Stevie falls and hits her head and does not remember the last two years.

Stevie went through a lot after the fall and with her retrograde amnesia. I loved that we got to read snippets of how Nora felt during all of this in her journal, too. This is definitely not the lightest read but I felt hopeful all the way through.

Im literally in tears. This is the book little teenage me needed but adult me is so grateful to have. I can’t explain how much I connected with this story and just how much knowing something like this exists for young teens like Stevie comforts me. This is a perfectly cheesy, heartbreaking, and sweet novel.
