I reread this book every few years, always over the Christmas break. Knowing how it ends, I enjoy the progression of it even more (Dec. 2011)

I just took this book back to the library and I feel like I'm cutting ties with a group of friends! I'll be looking to buy a copy of the book so I can keep them close. I will be honest - it took a little bit for me to get into this story, but once I did - I could not put it down. I loved it. I loved the ending and wished that there was a sequel so we could see into these people's lives a few years down the road.
Take some time and read this book - the story and characters will stay with you for a long time!

Excellent December read
I read this for a bookclub and several people said they read it every year around Christmas. The audible narrator was outstanding, managing several different accents, male and female voices as well as young and old characters. Lovely!

Just what I needed! A beautiful escape to the Scottish countryside in winter, good characters and heartwarming. Pretty predictable but just what I was looking for, a good story to escape and smile.
