What a charming, charming book. This was another cast of characters that I fell in love with for all their messy quirky human-ness. The were so many tender moments and I laughed and cried a lot. The different storylines within the book (the way the opioid crisis has effected this town, Emma's missing friend, Clive's illness and the inexplicable presence of Harold) were woven together wonderfully.

The narrator of the book is a cemetery wherein the dead live on as spirits who watch over the town. At first I found this a little strange, but eventually I grew to enjoy hearing the cemetery chime in with color commentary. It was endearing.

It's another one of those books that feels like a warm hug and utterly, sweetly human.

I finished the excellent audiobook and immediately picked up the text. Excellent storytelling, so life-affirming, can't say enough good things about this novel.
