Okay, for a while I thought about quitting just because it felt like it was DRAAAAAAAAAAGIN, however I did NOT expect the mother to be the actual murderer in the end. Grateful for Alice Feeney on leaving this surprise for the very last chapter. First, I thought it was Zoe, but then she died. Then I thought it was Cat, and Alice gives us good insight on the idea that it was her. But then, she threw that wrench in it! Absolutely adored the triple pov!

i REALLY thought i had it this time omg what an unexpected ending

In the quiet country town of Blackdown a woman's body has been found. Anna, a BBC correspondent is sent from London to cover the story. Jack is the DCI in charge of the investigation. But Anna and Jack already know each other, and they both know the dead woman, and it soon becomes clear that the long forgotten past may not be as forgotten as they'd hoped.
An easy and captivating read. Feeney's clear strength is in her constant misdirection. The story is told back and forth between the two lead cast members, with the occasional input from the killer. Nothing groundbreaking, but definitely entertaining.

Ok like I have a few thoughts on this book. Overall it was good. I thought I had the predictable ending. But then it changed. And then it changed again. That is fine.

What I didn’t like is it should’ve been marketed differently. Around 50% you know that it was the 2 main people who committed the crimes. The entire premise is like “his and her” perspectives. But then it basically just makes you wonder about everyone else and not them. Then it just turns into sorority nightmares.

I wish one of them were the murderer. At least it would acc make sense.

For me personally the second plot twist wasn’t needed. It should’ve just been kept to the one at the very end.

Did not see that twist coming!? I thought for sure I had this figured out but wow was I surprised!
