A rare case of both book and movie being equally good
These are just fun! I love to be able to take a break from more serious reading and finish an easy book in one big gulp. I really enjoyed the first movie after I had read the book, so now I'm looking forward to the second movie.
Reading this with my son as opposed to by myself was a lot more enjoyable. His enjoyment and laughter added on to me a whole atmosphere of fun. It was also fun to read in the style "Greg" is writing his diary entries in, and my son, having already read them by himself before, memorized his favorite lines and will interject with them.
The story for me although less structured in some ways than the first, I found to be smoother overall. I liked the mystery behind this deep dark secret of an embarrassing incident Greg is being blackmailed with. I still have some many questions when it comes to the parents but I just try not to be too critical and have a good time.
