I am sure there is some moral lessons to be taught from these stories. In fact it's very clear on their lessons on politics and morals and the state of the world when it was written. (And it is worth nothing that Gulliver (and Swift) decry the wars and genocides the English people have carried out in their conquest of foreign lands.)
But this is also a set of stories that set off my kink-o-meter with little obsessive details that make me uneasy. There's the obvious macro/micro kink - which comes to a non-consensual head in Brobdingnag, but there's also a weird scat-like fascination with Gulliver's toileting in both Lilliput and Brobdingnag (plus one of the scientists in Laputa), the pet play dynamics with Glumdalclitch and the Houyhnhnms, and the broad way that Gulliver gradually is degraded and humiliated by his encounters.
I'm not sure I feel about this layer of the erotic and horrific, especially the way they're used to illustrate the points Swift is making, but it is sort of fascinating that they're there and could (at least in this adaptation I listened to) form the basis of an erotic reading of the stories.

It was a nice book. I enjoyed how it was split into four stories for the four countries he visited. It just got confusing way too often for this to be even a 4-star read. Plus how is he just leaving his wife and kids for YEARS and not having any repercussions because of it?
