I just could not get into it. I found the characters boring and inconplex.

A difficult book with a dissatisfying ending. I’d prefer to know what happened!

very clever in the use of unreliable narrators to make us question which narratives are easier to tell, sell and occur more commonly in our culture, and are accepted.
I fell pretty hard for the first YA-like part of the book (it's telling what myths I'm willing to give power to :p ) so the rest was a sobering time. I found the characters quite easy to empathise with, probably because I have been a young girl and recognise the fraught attention of adult males during my early teens.

Trust exercise is a book to read very closely. Slow to start but quick to turn everything on its head - nothing and no one are quite real - and characters are best interpreted as concepts rather than individuals. This book was highly unique & thought provoking, although at times overly verbose, hence the loss of a star.
