This is definitely a poorly aged story. Bringing up a child's fertility after a "trans" joke is weird and quite frankly, distasteful. I appreciate how fans have completely ignored Cinder as European and have instead claimed her as Asian. As for the Asian "influences" of this book I wouldn't consider this hodge podge and mixing of several different cultures anything to get excited about. Oddly both fast paced and a little info dumpy at times.

I thought the book was good, however I really did not like the joke about the sex change. It should be edited out in my opinion because it comes across as disrespectful.

-1 star because transphobic "joke".

-I would've liked that information would be told in the dialogue more instead of being thrown at us in between characters speaking to each other.
-We didn't need all these points of view that we got. Cinder would've been enough.
-Cinder wouldn't have had so many fights with her stepmom Adri if she just didn't shout back at her things that Adri doesn't want to hear and will make her even madder.
-We were told that people don't like cyborgs but we are never shown people hating on cyborgs (other than Adri, who hates Cinder either way) and it kind of made me think that people don't react badly towards cyborgs. I don't even understand why it's bad being a cyborg. You would think not all people can afford it and that it's such advanced technology that it would be praised or something.
-It has a transphobic joke, which destroyed any possibility of me loving this book. For a second I thought that Cinder was trans* and got so excited but that thought was crushed immediately.
-I don't understand the need to name prince Kaito if you're going to be shortening it all the time? I would've understood it if only people close to him would call him Kai but everyone calls him that. Also, Kai will be a shit emperor. He cannot keep his mouth shut and speaks such informal things to f***ing RULERS OF OTHER COUNTRIES. He acts like a child. Eadlyn from The Heir ([b:The Selection|10507293|The Selection (The Selection, #1)|Kiera Cass|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1322103400s/10507293.jpg|15413183] series) will be a better queen than he will. Also, he is a f***ing emperor of the country now and he cannot accept that Cinder has some metal parts to her? He is more accepting of her being a lunar (a race of people that he generally doesn't trust) and an illegal immigrant (disobeying his own law, most likely a thief of someone's identity) than he is of her being 100% valid citizen, a wonder of technology and lucky to be alive? That's so absurd. I can't wrap my head around how he, as the emperor, could be so closedminded.
- The way Cinder acted in the ball was so cringy, I didn't like it at all. Also, why did she say she escaped the moon when actually she found out that she's lunar like a week ago? She could've just told the truth and everyone's reactions would've been more pleasant.
-In the last chapter, the doctor is like "Yeah, escape the prison" but he has no escape plan??? Does Cinder even know in which part of the palace she is and where is the closest and safest way out? She doesn't even know how to use her powers to help her escape. Moreover, how will she travel to f***ing Africa if she's a wanted person by the government? I imagine that everyone will know her face and a friendly reminder that she doesn't know how to manipulate bioenergy (aka how to make people think she looks different)

A couple of questions:
-If Cinder was three years old when she got caught in that fire on the moon and she remembers things from eleven years old, what was happening in the meantime? Who raised her?
-Did Dr Erland mentions that Cinder isn't infertile because when she'll take back her throne she'll be able to give birth to the heir(s).
-It seems like hacking the identity chip is so easy that someone could change the info and photo of the person in it for Cinder and it is unbelievable.
