I loved this book. Tolkien is really coming into his own and the world is becoming so immense. The characters are deep. The thing that strikes me the most is the sudden moments of connection to nature. It brought tears to my eyes twice.

Why did I wait so long to read this book? I loved it! Sam and Frodo’s friendship has to be one of the best fictional friendships ever.

I started this book so many different times throughout the years but couldn’t ever dedicate the time to finish it. Finally, I was able to and I couldn’t be happier about it. I call myself a HUGE Tolkien fan but have never gotten around to reading all of the books. That’s starting to turn around now, and I’m excited to finish The Lord of The Rings trilogy and move on to the Silmarillion and all of the stories mentioned therein.

Rereading the series by listening to the Andy Serkis audiobooks and it’s amazing as always, forever a favorite
