Fantastic book, just what I needed

I've been in a book slump for a while now. Nothing was keeping my interest. When I was recommended this book I gave it a try. It quickly grabbed my attention and didn't let go. I found myself reading at every available free moment I had. Moving on to book two! HOUNDS!

I just finished this series a week or so ago. It centres on Sara, who meets a pack of hell hounds and slowly regains memories of her past, including her past life, whilst dealing with sinister spirits escaping hell and a mysterious group plotting ‘hell on earth’. Can they work out who are behind these schemes?

I liked the paranormal, kickass, guardians of hell theme in this series. It kept me invested in the plotline through each book and had a satisfying ending! I also enjoyed the steamy scenes between characters, and some do have some extra spice. I would have loved more character development for some of the side characters, and perhaps this might occur in the other books Briana Michaels has written in this universe. I also yearned to read more of our heroine in the kickass action scenes but overall this series had a good balance of romance and the paranormal. I recommend if you’re a fan of these genres!

Reverse Harem virgin

Briana Michaels brings the same excitement and passion to this new series as she did with her Sins of the Sidhe series. Her characters and storylines wrap you around their pinky fingers and won't let you go until you are completely spent. I snuck reading time in at work just because I NEEDED to know what was going to happen next. The only thing that is disappointing about this series is when I have to put the book down

The writing style was great, even though the plot was a little meh and waaaaay too similar to the dark side series.

What fun! I couldn't put this book down. I was completely thrown by the twist, and thus I stayed up until about 3:30 in the morning to get to a good spot in the book. The characters all have strong chemistry--as a pack and one-on-one with the heroine--and they're all very distinct. The book is very compelling and finds ways to have humor even though it deals with some pretty dark themes. I felt like this book had a great balance of suspense, humor, and super steam.

I had a little trouble with the writing style since it was in second person. A lot of romances are in first person (it makes everything "happen" to the reader) and it took me a bit to get over that choice. The book felt a little choppy/didn't make a LOT of sense in terms of plot until about 20% when the twist happens, and then I was HOOKED. I even went back to reread sections with the new information. I have a lot of unanswered questions and it ends on a cliffhanger. Good thing there are more books!

Tropes: reverse harem; dark fantasy/horror; lonely female ghost meets a pack of Hell Hounds (4 males); NOT a slow burn; crude language and much sex throughout; blood, death, murder, violence, gore, and characters in peril; sex with multiple partners at a time; BDSM, kink, toys; torture and mentions of history of torture; depictions of grief (in many varied forms); conspiracies and looming threats; repressed memories and flashbacks.

Heat rating: NUCLEAR—explicit sex, indelicate language during sex, and graphic depictions of a sexual nature used to further the story; may also include light kink; not quite enough for an EXPLICIT level (5), but takes it a level past HOT (3).

My first RH and i LOVED IT! Spice and chemistry was great, loved each of the guys and their personality difference, their reverence for Sara and tenderness while being ... not so tender.

Looking forward to book 2!

A good story. I am loving the interaction between the hounds . Can't wait to read the next one. This is definitely turning out to be a series I am going to want to read straight through.

Was already having issues with the FMC, the repetitive dialogue, and the waffling behaviour of the guys.

Checked out reviews to see if it gets better…Apparently there’s a rape scene at the end that is justified as ‘other’.
That even once the guys admit to feelings of guilt over it, the female reassures them.
Non-consensual BDSM, non consensual sex (a different guy then she agreed to), abuse that pretends to be games.

I’m beyond disgusted by the idea of this!
No way I’m touching this, or anything else by this author!

No CW, not disclaimers that this is fantasy, no tags of Dark, over the line, fantasy.

Fantasies are an individual choice. So long as we specify that it IS a fantasy, and must stay a fantasy, unless it involves ‘Consenting’ adults’!

Books require CW, tags, and disclaimers!
Otherwise you wind up with negative reviews like this
