I enjoyed this much more than Windrush Child; both were heartbreaking and emotional, but Windrush Child felt quite rushed whereas Refugee Boy was slower paced and therefore allowed you to connect more with the characters. I found it really moving and thought-provoking
Moderate: Death of parent, Racism, and Racial slurs

Shockingly, my first Benjamin Zephaniah! I thought the plot points felt a little inorganic at times but it was definitely a powerful book. By the end I really felt drawn into what was going to happen to the central characters.
Moderate: Racism
Minor: Murder and Violence
