Concise and to the point.
I found the concrete numbers backed by the personal research of Browning were very heavy hitting, when one thinks how so little men killed so many and deported more than that amount, towards their death, in any case.
There was also significant introspection towards this point, how the men of the Reserve Battalion could stomach doing all this, coming from ordinary backgrounds in their life before the Battalion.
In the newer edition first published in 2017, I found the first half of the added chapter a bit redundant. It repeated many of the points the author had already established in the previous text, just with added source material published after 1992 which agreed with his stance, and, after reading the afterword in which he goes in depth disputing Goldhagen's disagreement with his book, I just thought it was a petty rebuttal to that with more backers.
However, I found the second half of the addition, focusing on Luxembourgian soldiers stationed in Reserve Police Battalion 101, and the first hand pictures and their source, very informative and helpful to further understand this small part of WW2.
