I understand it’s merit from a philosophical perspective but dang this was a miserable book. The three stars is based on my personal experience with it - fascinating in places, provoking deep thought about human nature and the things that shape us; then also upsetting and disturbing, both sides being equally unpleasant and repulsive. So, yeah, this book was a lot. It won’t be a book I revisit, but it will inspire some good conversation at bookclub I imagine.

there is so much good about this book but also so much bad about this book. the racism and fatphobia and misogyny is crazy, but the context of this book is important to keep in mind. it does bring so much to reflect upon: mainly how much we accept from society due to our conditioning. the discussions on religion is also so interesting. i do think i must do a second read on this book in the (far) future.

The most problematic book I‘ve read, probably ever. I know it‘s dystopian and when it was written, but that doesn‘t make it okay. Still promoting this as a classic is ridiculous.
