My bar for a funny book has skyrocketed after reading this. However, it still dealt with mature themes of death, addiction, and adult sibling relationships in a way that felt natural. Props for healthy polyamorous rep. Perfection.

What a warm and sweet story, without being saccharine. Patrick and the kids, and what grief can look like, really come alive.

It's too long, I don't know what the point of Emory's presence is, and not much plot really happens (it's very slice-of-life), but I easily forgive all that since it's such an immersive delight.

This is a book I'd recommend to anyone, you don't have to be a serious or frequent reader to enjoy it. It was very sweet, without being too saccharine. The theme of grief was explored very well without being too heavy - this book didn't make me cry, and honestly, I'm okay with that. All in all just a great read.

Can I give this more than five stars? What a beautiful tale of love, forgiveness, self-discovery, and family. The characters are all strong and believable, but more importantly they are lovable.

It took a little while for me to love this book.  The first part is funny, sharp, and brittle, kind of like a sitcom. I was worried the whole book would be like that, but it grew into something much more.  Such a lovely family story
