Sub-Jamesian (MR) stories. Mostly very short anecdotes rather than full-blown ghost stories. There are few, if any, twists, just a straight retelling of a tale.
Entertaining though and I fair ploughed through them.
This third collection is slightly better than the first two - stories of a reasonable length mixed in among the vignettes.
Note: I read the original The Night Wind Howls, i.e. the third of Cowles' books assembled from stories found after his death. It's not the compendium edition printed in the 90s(?). Basically, I read the trilogy as three stand-alone books.
