I loved this book!! So amazingly inspiring, and it is a great combination of #MeToo and gun control, two very contentious issues. I would recommend this book as one that everyone needs to read.
“Oh, every person is a book with chapters. Some are glorious and some are dark and ugly. Every person survives something. We should get a patch for it”
I loved this. It was heartbreaking and wonderful and I’m so glad that I read it.
I loved the audiobook. But reading the end of this book wasn’t great to do while driving because ALL of the tears coming out of my eyes dear lord wasn’t good. Driving and crying, not smart. Everyone read it please. It’s wonderful.

I am so grateful to have finally read this powerful book. An important, emotional story with endearing, authentic characters. Any girl/woman who has suffered from aggression, violence, or control will relate to the story of Annabelle’s inspiring run toward resilience after The Taker tried to destroy that in her.
"How can you feel safe?" That's the big question of this book. What can Bella Agnelli do to feel safe after tragedy strikes? She decides to run. It's the ultimate flight, as in, fight or flight. One day she just "snaps," and she can't go back. She starts running, and she won't stop. Her mom and brother try to convince her, but she's determined. So starts her run from Dick's Drive In in Seattle to Washington DC.
Annabella has been a cross country runner in high school, but this is beyond anything she's ever considered athletically. She doesn't care, though. It's all she can do. Her grandfather trails her in his RV, though, and things take a sort of daily rhythm. Run, nurse wounds, eat, sleep, repeat. Little does she know, though, that her running will take on a following of people both unexpectedly near and far. She's not prepared for a stunt like this. All she wants to do is forget why she started running to begin with, but she keeps getting reminders from the past. He shows up every day in her memory and in her here-and-now. Can she out run her memories? He'll still be waiting at the end.
This book. This. Book. It's really inspiring and sad and triumphant and depressing and hopeful. Caletti is masterful in creating suspense and so many other emotions. 4.5 stars!

First off, I totally see why people love this book. While this isn't a new favorite of mine, I did enjoy it (as much as you can enjoy a book of this topic). I think that the author definitely made a choice witholding the event that was the catalyst for this cross country run. And at the beginning I didn't really like it because I felt like it was being teased, but like I was missing a big part of the story. But it did really pay off at the end and the end of the book was very rewarding and powerful. My biggest critique of the book was just that I didn't resonate or connect to the main character. Her grandpa though... man he was my favorite character of all time! Italian Grandpas are the best!
So there is some massively triggering content in this book, I'm going to put it under this spoiler tag in case you're wondering what it was and whether or not you can handle reading it. It's gun violence, by the way.
