Perseus Jackson is the best. I love following him and his adventures because the kid has so much heart. Percy isn’t always the smartest or wisest but he leads with his heart first which makes him such an easy character to root for. His success always feels great as well as how he manages to work with his party.
The cast is great as well. It’s unfortunate we didn’t get to see annabeth as much but Grover, Thalia and Zoe picked up the slack. While I miss the dynamic of the original trio it’s great to see new relationships form. These books may be light but man they are a great adventure beginning to end, really exciting and always fun to read. The action sequences are fun and easy to follow, another great installment in the franchise.

I'm giving this a 4 but it's probably closer to a 3.5 - def my least fav so far but I still did enjoy it and 3 feels too low, so 4 it is.

I still loved the humor and heart in this series but tbh I missed my bestie Annabeth the whole time :( Also I was a bit disappointed that
SpoilerLuke's death was a fakeout but I had to actually deal with the deaths of BOTH Zoe and Bianca???? say sike right now. that was so upsettin. I thought Bianca's was especially shocking and even tho it was ~the prophecy~ I didn't see it coming. I was like OH OKAY...we're in the big leagues now.

but overall it was fun, loved the field trip to the Smithsonian and the introduction of Artemis and Apollo was fun. Also enjoyed the Atlas scene at the end and how it all played out. I feel like the last few chapters of these books I'm always just flying through.

I will also say that by the third book in this series I feel like the YA-ness of them all is beginning to show a bit. It just has started to feel formulaic - bad thing happens, Percy goes on quest to fix bad thing, cliffhanger at the end to get you into the next one. I'm okay with it because I'm still enjoying them though. Might have to take a little break before diving right into #4 though, we'll see.

read with Sarah!

LOVE LOVE LOVE is all I can say about this book. I love the new characters like Thaila, Nico, Bianca, Zoe, and more! I loved the plot twists and the
death were sad and left a mark on the plot.
If you’re thinking about reading this continuing this series it is a must do!

This book took me the longest to read, but that was entirely my own fault. I loved every page and all the (new) characters. I had some chuckles and shed a few tears. And even though Annabeth is my favourite, I think this is my favourite book in the series.
