This book was severely mismarketed when it first was published. While the original cover is eye catching- sharp green font, cracked teacup- it makes you think horror and that isn't truthful. It made me feel like we're to expect a horror novel, but this was more Practical Magic meets woman finds herself after a breakup and her new friend just happens to be a witch. So a cozy witch book- in the best way!
If I went into this expecting cozy witch vibes, I might have picked this up a lot sooner.
Because I was expecting horror (and maybe that was on me for trying to read this right after The Return , I do have to rate this a start lower, but I love Rachel Harrison and am very excited to keep reading her books- they're all so different!

I enjoyed the book overall but I felt like there were a lot of parts that were fillers and didn't really add to the plot. I liked the underlying message of finding self love without a partner in life also. Overall it was a nice read just not necessarily my style.
