it took me a second to get into it, but i think that was more about all of the madness of the new year than the book itself, although i wasn’t sure of the writing style to begin with. BUT i loved it! it was absolutely not what i was expecting, even slightly. and i think that might’ve been what i didn’t get on with very well in the first 60ish pages. this was incredible, it made me rethink the same things so many times, stuck in the characters indecision and confusion. i so often find myself shouting at the characters in books because the right path for them is so obvious, so i was very happy to be confused along with annie. definitely recommend if you want a surprisingly dark small town visit.

It’s very light and not quite what I was expecting. I wish there had been more attention to magic and the main character’s magical capabilities. Instead, this is more of her working through relationship trauma.
