Quick Summary: A moment of truth mystery

My Review: A Christmas Visitor by Anne Perry was a deeper meaning tale. It was a lesson cloaked within the context of a story.

About the Book: The puzzling murder of an upstanding judge brings question after question to a family and community. When a secret hidden in plain sight is revealed, what will those in the know do?

My Final Say: This was a clever story. It was a simple offering, however, it dealt with the complex themes of truth, honor, and integrity. I appreciated that it left the reader with a reflective perspective by way of a question, of sorts.

Reflective Question: What would you do if a wrong was committed against someone who is innocent and you had a hand in it?

Rating: 3.75/5
Recommend: Yes
Audience: A
Special Note: This is a story for all seasons. I cannot say that it rang true as a Christmas story. I suppose if I stretched the underlying message, I could take it there. Readers may do well to regard it more so as a life lesson read.

I'd like to dedicate this review to the wine I drank. You made this book tolerable.

A Christmas Visitor was definitely one of those books that I read for a specific challenge.. because someone said to. I completely regret that decision on my part.. but thankfully I had wine to help me out. So, thank you pinot!

Now I do tend to love murder mystery books.. but this one fell flat for me. Especially since it's around freaking Christmas - which is my damn jam. I love that day - don't ruin that day for me. In it, you will meet Henry.. and he's just a sad character to invest in. He's telling horrible news to a family about a death. Which just screams CHRISTMAS, right?

Other than that, this book was weird. I'm glad it was so short because then I would've been hating Christmas instead of this thing.

I enjoyed this book a lot, and in the end it was the Christmas story that enchanted me - watch for three wise people arriving from various faraway places and bearing curious gifts for a child. There is a mystery story in it, too, and a crime that will be solved. Looking forward to others of these.

A Christmas Visitor by Anne Perry
This is a tale of a murder at Christmastime. The mother, son and father had gone to a festive show and then came back home.
The father leaves to take a walk. He never comes back. The police do find his body and the questions start as things are not right about the whole thing.
The other family members show up, some with spouses and everybody helps with collecting the clues to piece this puzzle together.
First off there is chatter about the deed to the house and lands. Forged documents and who is to gain comes up. Body was found upriver but river was flowing in the opposite direction.
I never thought for a minute it was who they discover, such crime solving skills they have.
I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

I listened to the audiobook. Truly nothing scream Christmas about this book. I enjoy a good Christmas cozy mystery but this just wasn’t what I expected. It was rather repetitive and depressing. Glad it was so short otherwise I might’ve given up on it.
