Overall this story was great. I thought it had a great mix of character relationships and plot/world building. Mo Xi and Gu Mang are great characters and I wish I got to see more of their ending!

Mo Xi and Gu Mang's relationship feels like a Cigarette After Sex song:

perfectly imperfect, painful, full of longing and yearning, comforting yet devastating 😢

Although Meatbun said she doesn't think this is one of her best works, I beg to differ. I cried so much reading these 7 volumes. I was literally fighting for my life. All these characters are so ingrained in my brain now, I can't stop thinking about them.

I do have to say that the ending is a bit disappointing, it felt rushed and unsatisfying almost, but my babies got a HEA and I can live with that. I didn't like the whole thing with

Murong Mengze secretly being a man tho. Meatbun let women be cunning and scheming 😩

The extra also didn't really interest me. I would have wanted more post-canon stories with my boys instead. This is mostly the reason why my rating is pretty low which makes me a little sad because I really love this series... but it is what it is.
