I cannot believe it's the end of Remnants of Filth.... What a wild ride this was.
This book is very short and we basically have the main story being wrapped up and an extra story which is an AU if Gu Mang went to school like Mo Xi did.
We get to know in a very fucked way thatMo Xi went back to the time Gu Mang was going to be brough back to the Kingdom. And that he had to gouge Gu Mangs souls in order to prevent the worst from coming in the near future. HEART WRECHING STUFF MEATBUN WHAT IS THIS. And the brocade pouch???? JAIL Mo Xi being jealous of himself is very fitting tho
Mo Xi is easily one of my favourite Danmei characters - he fights with all he has for Gu Mang. Even though that will cause him pain, he will do it.
I'm glad thatthey actually die but get to survive death and come back to the real world, away from the chaos from the capital and teaching pupils love this. However, I'm kinda sad we don't get more sexy scenes from these two.... lol
Chen Tang and Hua Po'an's story did feel rushed and incomplete, so I get why Meatbun herself has many regrets about how she wrote their story.
The AU part was meh, didn't like it that much. Wished we had actual extra stories about their current timeline and their life after all this happened.
Some spoilery things:
. I should've known that Murong Mengze actually had alterior motives to help Mo Xi, WAS NEVER INJURED??. And she's actually a man??????? WILD
. I felt that this ending part was very rushed and everything kinda got solved very "nicely". Did like the fact that Murong Lian survived after everything and he helped Gu Mang and Mo Xi with their new life
Overall, still probably my favourite story from Meatbun, but this might change since the other two are still not completed (the traditional publishing version).
