Okay… Steele Sanderson? Yeah, he’s officially ruined me for all future fictional men. 😮‍💨
If you love your heroes protective, a little bossy, and absolutely feral when it comes to the girl they’ve always wanted—this one’s going to have you kicking your feet.

This book is the perfect cocktail of:
🏒 Friends-to-Lovers
🏒 Forced Proximity
🏒 “She’s always been mine” energy
🏒 Off-limits tension that will make you scream into your pillow

Jennifer Sucevic delivers the longing, the banter, and the oh-my-god-just-kiss moments so well that I was grinning like a fool one minute and fanning myself the next. And the pining? Delicious. The payoff? Even better.

I’m calling it now—this Chicago Railers series is about to be my entire personality. 😜

Make Me Yours is the first book in the Chicago Railers Hockey series. I love a good friends-to-lovers story. There is so much longing and emotional ups and downs. Right from the start, it’s clear how much they care for each other, but don’t admit it. Steele has been in love with Lilah since their college days, but he’s stuck in the friend zone. He’s been wanting her for ages.

She’s his Lucky Charm, who never misses a home game but when she skips one, he starts to worry. When Lilah finds out her boyfriend cheated, she ends up with nowhere to go after their breakup, leading Steele to offer her his home.

He takes care of her well. He gives her all the support she needs and surprises her with things she’s always wanted. She has some challenges to face. Her parents are horrible and her ex…no word for him. He’s determined to take this chance to finally show her that he’s her perfect match, someone who’s been right in front of her all along. Steele was incredibly caring and attentive to Lilah. This guy is such a swoon-worthy hero, and he also has a dominant side. It was good and steamy!

This audiobook had duet narration by Christian Fox and Vanessa Edwin two of my favs. I would recommend this audio, especially if you love a good friends-to-lovers romance.

Thank you to Jennifer Sucevic and Valentine PR for providing the ALC for my honest opinion.

This was a wonderful intro to a new world that gave us some sneak peeks at previous characters! I have only read the last 2 books of Western Wildcats but did not feel lost in the buildup that was Steele and Lilah. There were hints along the way in those two about his feelings for her. And OMG yall a man THIS down bad was just SO fun to read! I REALLY am loving a friends to lovers read. Especially in this instance since he was just WAITING for ANY sign that she was into the possibility of them. I love hearing his inner monologue on recognizing that she wasn't ready for what he wanted to tell her or how he wanted to show her his feelings. I really enjoyed this new setting and being introduced to all of these new characters. I tried to figure out who was going to end up with who the whole book. I REALLY loved Steele yall. This man was SUCH a great guy. He was willing to be the friend on the sideline forever without her knowing his feelings as long as she was happy. He just wanted her to be treated like the queen she is. And can we talk about the mouth on this man? The fact that he legit flipped a switch and became borderline dom- I found myself fanning my cheeks. I also loved watching their dynamic shift. Watching Lilah question why all of a sudden she is noticing Steele's body and the way he looks at her and wondering how she hadn't noticed it before. I liked them so so much because they were supportive and made each other better. Also having a decade of friendship gave them such a solid foundation!

Lilah can't believe the situation she has found herself in. Single and unemployed. Who does she call? None other than her BFF Steele. The star and captain of the Chicago Railers. Her literal rock. The one person she can always count on who is now her roommate. Who is giving her space to process while helping her recognize that she deserved so much more than how her ex was treating her. Steele who she is all of a sudden noticing is ridiculously handsome. Steele who she is starting to think about in a different way. Especially after walking in on him after the shower. What is happening? This man who she has always thought of as a friend seems to be more now. But does he feel it too? Is this only because she is hurting? She doesn't think so because there connection feels stronger than ever. And then he offers her a friends with benefits situation. To see how things go. So she can experiment and find out what she likes. She questions whether it is worth ruining their friendship but realizes she can't fight this pull anymore. And then Steele introduces her to another side of himself. A side she wants more of. A side that makes her body LIGHT up in the best ways. A side that makes her realize she likes ALL of him and beyond friendship. She realizes that he is her home. That HE is who she wants as her forever. And she is starting to think he feels that way too about her.

Steele has been in love with Lilah for ten years. Ten agonizing years while watching her fumble around with boys who don't treat her right. Ten years of watching her look at him as nothing more than a friend. But now he has a chance. A chance to show her and tell her how he feels. She is single for the first time in a long time and she is at a crossroads with work. He decides he doesn't want to scare her away. He is too invested. But he also doesn't want to lose her again. So he quietly bides his time. He lets her look and watches as the way she looks at him changes. It shifts to hunger. To wanting more. It shifts to how he has been looking at her for the last ten years. But instead of immediately going down on one knee, he reads the room. He offers her an escape. An escape with him and his body. An escape to open her mind and let their connection thrive. They can do a friends with benefits. At least that is what he says but all the while he wants this as his in. He wants to show her that no one else can treat her this way. But he doesn't only want her body. He wants her heart, her future, her smiles, her everything. And he finally gets to see the moment she realizes she wants all of that too and part of him thinks it MIGHT have been worth the wait.

This was SO delicious! The build up was perfect. I KNEW Steele was going to be such a dom in the bedroom. He proved me right! Their chemistry was off the charts. But not only that, I loved how Steele helped her build her confidence up again. How he helped give her the space she needed to figure out what she wanted to do with her life. How he was just there for her. I just LOVED these two. I also am REALLY looking forward to the rest of these guys falling for their ladies and falling HARD. Can't wait for book 2! Highly recommend this as a nice intro to a new world of hockey hotties and their leading ladies :)

Summary:
Lilah and Steele have been friends since college, though he's been in love with her for just as long. When she walks in on her boyfriend cheating on her, she goes to Steele. He gives her a place to live and a part-time position as his assistant - until she lands back on her feet. He also offers a friends-with-benefits arrangement when he learns that her ex was an uninspiring lover. One thing leads to another and you know the rest...

My thoughts:
I really liked this book. Lilah and Steele stole my heart!
If you want to read about a swoony MMC look no further. Steele is an acts of service king and is completely down-bad for Lilah.
Lilah is a sweetheart and while I didn't love that all throughout the book she kept harping on her ex and how he treated her, I also understand that her situation is complicated and not something you forget after a day.
The spice was so good and didn't feel forced... it felt like it worked with the plot, instead of taking it over.
I loved the side characters they were so much fun and I can completely envision a book for each of them. I'm already chomping at the bit to get Callie and River's book.

“Look at you. Completely undone just for me.”

This follows Lilah and Steele—best friends for the past ten years. Steele has been completely obsessed with Lilah, but she’s always been out of reach. That changes when she walks in on her ex-boyfriend with another woman. I’m her safe space, the one she runs to. I offer her a place to stay and a new job—now’s my chance to make her mine.

First off, the audiobook is fantastic—Vanessa and Christian did an amazing job narrating, so I highly recommend picking it up in this format. Steele’s character is perfection. This man is utterly obsessed, and the way he treated her was delicious. The flirty tension and undeniable chemistry, paired with his patience yet constant need for her, had me hooked.

Lilah was so vulnerable with Steele and found comfort in him. In doing so, she uncovered feelings she had always carried for him. The spice was incredible, and the way this man drew out the wait at times made me want to scream. This is a character-driven story with a captivating storyline, and it was such an enjoyable read.

This was my first book by Jennifer Sucevic, and it certainly won’t be my last. This was a fantastic read. I adore the friends-to-lovers trope. It is one of my favorites. This was a hockey romance, and you all know I am a sucker for those.

Lilah and Steele were delicious. I loved their friendship. Steele has always been her shoulder to lean on, and when she realizes he is more than just a friend, it is hot. Steele is the sweetest man with a dominant side in the bedroom. He was the perfect book boyfriend. He was pining so hard for Lilah. He was a perfect reprieve for Lilah after her awful ex-boyfriend.

Christian Fox and Vanessa Edwin did a fantastic job bringing these characters to life. They performed the book in duet. This was my first book to listen to with Christian as the narrator. I loved him. Vanessa always delivers. This book is available on KU, and the audiobook is on Hoopla. I hope you love it too.

When you finally have a chance to make your best friend realize she has always been yours, you leap without looking.

Make Me Yours is a friends-to-lovers romance that will have you melting. Steele is the definition of a golden retriever and wants nothing more than to make sure Lilah is happy. Lilah has just had the rug pulled out from under her and life turned upside down, but the one person she can always count on is there ready to pick her back up….. and never let her go.

Make Me Yours was a fun read. Moving with the characters as their relationship changed was romantic, sweet, and hot. Sucevic fills the story with banter, a girl gang and hockey bros, and twists that keep you on your toes. Not only did I love Steele and Lilah, the side characters added fun, loyalty, and side stories to the book that made it even better. You may even see some characters from other series making quick cameos. I loved the way Sucevic used this book to tell Steel and Lilah’s story but to also set up the rest of the series. I can’t wait to see where it goes.

Welcome to Chicago Railers Hockey! You don’t want to miss a second on or off the ice.
