I really liked the first book in this series (The Stranger Diaries) and I was super excited that there was more Harbinger Kaur to discover, but this book just dragged for me. I'm not sure why because individually, all of the characters were likable and the plot should have been perfect for me. It took me a bit to read and it just didn't catch my attention as much as I would have liked.

This review is just to help me remember key points about the book. If you find it helpful or relatable that's cool too.

If I have to hear the phrase "Detective Fever" one more time I'm going to lose it.
I found this book so incredibly boring. Following a group of misfit adults meddling in a police investigation but there's no talking dog. The cast is diverse in terms of traits but not one of them has a personality.

Since I loved Stranger Diaries I was looking forward to reading the next book in this series by Elly Griffiths. This book is surprisingly different; while The Stranger Diaries was a dark gothic mystery this one is more of a cozy mystery. I still liked the characters and it moved along at a brisk pace, but since cozy mysteries aren’t really my thing I’ll probably pass on the next book in the series.

This is yet another fantastic book by Elly Griffiths that I thoroughly enjoyed. As I reflect on both books in the series so far, I'm finding it challenging to choose which one I liked best, as each has its unique charm and appeal. While this book is the second in the series, it is crafted in such a way that it can easily be appreciated as a standalone novel.

The pacing is brisk, making it a quick and engaging read, filled with unexpected twists that kept me on my toes. The characters are vividly drawn and well-developed, each bringing their own distinctive qualities and nuances to the story. I found myself genuinely liking all of them, which added to the overall enjoyment of the narrative.

This book is the perfect cosy crime novel that invites you to immerse yourself deeply in the plot, making it hard to put down. It's a delightful blend of intrigue and character-driven storytelling that is sure to captivate any mystery lover.

Mycket långtråkigare än den första boken i serien. Var inte lika intresserad av karaktärerna den här gången och jag tyckte att berättelsen var segare. Huvudpersonen är tyvärr den minst intressanta karaktären i böckerna hittills.
