I’ve listening to a bunch of author based murder mysteries and this was another great one! I enjoyed the switching perspectives even if one of them was a cop

Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book.

As a devoted fan of author Elly Griffiths, I was very excited for book 2 of the Harbinder Kaur series. When Natalka, home care worker, finds her 90 year old patient dead, the last thing she expected was to get dragged into a murder mystery. Did Peggy have a heart attack, or was she murdered? DS Kaur is back on the case, this time with a unlikely trio determined to help her solve the mystery of Peggy's death. Natalka, along with Peggy's 80 year old neighbor Edwin, and the local cafe owner Benedict are soon teamed up to find out what really happened to Peggy. Murder seems to be following them everywhere as the story develops.

This book will work as a stand-alone story if you haven't read the first one, but I highly suggest starting back at the beginning with book 1 (The Stranger Diaries).

A 3.25 stars

This was more of a cozy mystery type of a book. It was fun and entertaining to read but the backstories and the sidetracks were a bit long at times. The investigation is a bit puerile but it was nice to see the evolution and development of the relationships between the characters.

I really enjoy an Elly Griffiths book - she tells a good tale. This is no exception - there is a murder, a plucky crew of characters keen to solve the mystery and a few red herrings to mix it up. This is a new(ish) series and Harbinder Kaur is a likeable addition to Griffith's stable of detectives.

Another diverting read by Griffiths. I really liked the cast of characters for this book, Edwin particularly. There something about senior citizens and solving murders… quite fun!
