Heartstopper Volume One follows Charlie, the slightly nerdy drum player who’s the one gay kid out inschool and Nick, a soft-hearted rugby player who always sees the best in people. It’s a stranger to friends to lovers story and it completely melted my heart.

If you couldn’t tell from my description of these characters, I adored them. They’re easy to get attached to while still remaining human in their mistakes and they feel just so fucking real. The side characters are also so well written and developed. Just *chef’s kiss*.
Plot
Obviously this is a romance and while the chemistry between the two characters is amazing, the parts of the plot that really impressed me were outside of that dynamic. Nick and Charlie’s issues beyond their relationship are treated with such care and felt so realistic to my own experiences with sexuality. And the fact that this is a young adult LGBTQ+ book that doesn’t solely focus on the coming out experience is so important to me!
So please! Read this book!!

Não existe nada melhor que coming of age, ainda mais com a temática gay. Engoli a história em alguns minutos, mesmo achando que levaria mais tempo pela quantidade de páginas, mas não me arrependo! A história tão gostosa e fluída. Com certeza terminarei todos os volumes logo já que é tão rápido e gostoso de ler, mas espero que não seja uma história com final triste.
