I was not expecting to like a YA Mystery this much!

I was able to read this ebook through #NetGalley!

After her ex boyfriend falls in love with her best friend, Alice turns to Agatha Christie to cope. When, 6 months later, that best friend goes missing, Alice teams up with her tutor, Iris, to become Hercule Poirot/Miss Marple.

This book is a lot of fun, but it does have some unnecessary tropes-- I was just waiting for the inevitable fight between the two girls, and the privileged vs unprivileged theme was definitely skated over.

However, this book is entertaining, and if it introduces young readers to Agatha Christie, then I'm on board.

This YA book about a high school girl who disappeared after a Halloween party has a number of clever things going for it: two authors who each narrate a different character (two economic classes, two different family situations, two different skill sets, two different relationships to the missing girl, but both determined and smart), lines from Agatha Christie books to start most chapters, references to AG detectives in an appropriate amount, phone text chains, timelines, suspect lists, TV and press conference transcripts, building and breaking friendships, and human failings (trigger warning: an abusive parent and one incident of dating violence, with helplines noted at the end of the book). Quite a swtich from my previous read, but except for being a little long, it was a fun read.

This was a great mystery. I really liked the characters. Alice and her background and obsession with Agatha Christie. Iris with her own past. I loved how the came together and started solving the mystery. There were parts of this book that were sad, bit I really liked how the mystery had so many details and twists to it. This is a good one.

This was very good.
I liked the characters, though I felt both of them were a little immature, and then I realized of course they are, they're teenagers.
I completely fell for the red herring, but once it was called into question I started to put together the other pieces which had been provided.
The characters have good growth, both Iris and Alice, showing that they're more than just teenagers as some folks may have said a paragraph ago.
I look forward to more and have checked out the next book in the series already.

This was a great mystery. I loved Alice, Iris, and the Zoners. The hints of Agatha Christie were perfect and I hope it encourages teen readers to check her out.
