It was ok. Anyway, nada. It was.... a read. And I didn't hate it so like. Dos estrellas, it was ok.

It took me a bit to actually get in to this book. I liked the second half more than the first. It had lots of references to Agatha Christie, which was even more fun to read after having recently read The Christie Affair. The characters had a semi-realistic feel…like I could totally see this being made into a show or mini-series like One Of Us Is Lying.

A fun mystery strongly influenced by Agatha Christie. The story does a good job of creating suspects and investigating.
When Brooke Donovan goes missing, her former friend (and the ex girlfriend of Brooke’s boyfriend) Alice is immediately suspicious. Although Alice disappeared the briefly that summer, she knows Brooke is not that kind of girl, but no one is taking Brooke’s disappearance seriously. When Alice starts investigating with her tutor, Iris, a girl looking for a way out of town and away from her abusive father. When Brooke’s body is found suspicion is immediately thrown on her boyfriend Steve, but Alice and Iris don’t buy it. They launch an amateur, but well thought out investigation, with the guidance of Steve’s lawyer and the help of the school’s Forensic Science club, and Iris’s friends, Neil, Spike, and Zora. They dig up lots of surprising information and blow the case wide open.
I really enjoyed the characters, and am hoping that there will be a more in depth look into Iris and Alice, as their friendship solidifies over the next book. I also like that the supporting characters had very unique voices and characteristics, and hope to see more of them in the future. There’s already set up for a few more books with unsolved crimes linked to the Levy Castle and the murder of Remy Jackson, so I can’t wait to see more of the Agatha’s.

This was a good, cozy mystery. I wanted to pick it up every chance I could.

Alice teams up with her tutor Iris to solve the murder of her former friend Brooke. As they do, friendships form and secrets are revealed.

Twists and turns abound as they try to figure out who’s guilty and who’s not.

I wish I saw the ending coming, but I truly did not.

Bit of a slow start but loved this

4.5/5 rounded up.

I really enjoyed this one. Fast paced, entertaining, and engaging. I couldn’t put it down

Love love love the balance of serious, mystery, and friendship. Loved Liz Lawson’s first book and so happy to read this one. I’ll definitely be exploring more of Kathleen Glasgow’s works.
