This book was not good. I rarely think books are bad and I certainly don’t want to criticize someone who clearly cut their writing teeth with fanfic but man. It’s just a wonder that stuff like this actually gets published. There’s another review for this that summarized my thoughts about this book way better than I could or want to, but let’s just say I don’t recommend this book lol.

A few chapters in, I was pretty sure that this was a 3-star book at best, and I wasn’t looking forward to finishing it. Then it surprised me and it just kept getting better from there. It was a little quirky (okay, a lot), but it was a really cute story, and I’m glad I gave it a chance to see where it would go. I’m
not sure if it was an original idea, but I had never read another story like it, so it was original to me. I really enjoyed it and very much liked the ending, which is somewhat rare for me.

5/5
“Listen for me when the wind rushes through the trees.” This has to be one of my favorite books I’ve ever read. It had everything I love in a book: romance, ghosts, silly side characters, hijinks, family drama, and of course a million reasons and lines to make me cry like a baby. I wasn’t prepared for these feelings and my chest felt heavy and sorrowful and light and hopeful the entire time. A delight.

This was so cute, I loved it! I may have known how it was gonna end super early into (I just read a manga with the same premise) but I still enjoyed the story so much! I can see Ashley becoming an auto buy author for me!
This was INCREDIBLE. I kept putting this book off for reasons I don’t know, but I’m SO glad I waited to read it now because I feel like I read it at the perfect time in my life. I laughed, I cried. I felt every possible emotion I could feel while reading this book. I loved the romance between Florence and Ben, but I loved Florence’s path to self-discovery even more. There were multiple times where I felt like Poston jumped into my brain and wrote exactly what I was thinking or how I was feeling. This is one of those “stay up late until you finish reading” books. This is one of those “I wish I could read it for the first time again” books. This book is for the burnt out older siblings who never ask for help even when they’re falling apart themselves. This book is for the hopeless romantics who have yet to experience the kind of love they see all around them. This book is for the people who solve everyone else’s problems before even thinking about their own problems. This book won’t be for everyone, but it was for me.
✨ unique romance with supernatural elements
✨ covers grief of losing a loved one
✨ some plot twists!!
✨ follows the main character’s journey to self-discovery, trying to figure out where she fits in, and coming to terms with the past
✨ set in NYC and a small southern town
✨ valuable life lessons
(I keep editing this because I keep thinking of things I want to say about it. I cannot say enough good things about this book.)
