Sweet, funny and thoughtful. This book touched my heart. It had me tearing up and blushing and laughing out loud. It also threw me for a curve! I thought it was going to end a certain way but it decided on a happy ever after. The character development is SUPERB and I loved it! A must read

genuinely one of the best romances ive ever read. cliche but in the most refreshing and innovative way. i loved the main character, loved the romance, loved the small-town setting (a rarity for me) and i loved the ending. highly, highly recommend. everyone recommends this author’s more popular “seven year split”, but i think this is better. ashley poston, i would read your shopping list.
the only minutest issue was the usage of the phrase “chaos gremlin”, which was too millennial for my tastes.

I’m not surprised I liked this book as much as I do. It’s so original, honestly. I’ve never read a book like this before and it takes a different spin on death. That’s death doesn’t always have to be sad, but it’s okay if it is because that just means you loved a lot. Death and grief is all about love. This book really touches on that, as well as family and relationship. Nothing I love more than all of those combined, plus a small-ish town? Sign me up!

But seriously, this is the second Ashley Poston book I’ve read and I can say with certainty that I am I fan. I read The Seven Year Slip first and LOVED IT, which had me automatically buying A Novel Love Story, which I have yet to read. But The Dead Romantics? This was exactly what I needed right now, especially in October. Having finished this book, I’m all that more excited to read ANLS because I know it will be good. Also, I need to own this book now because I have the other two.

So, yes, I do recommend this. Please read. Will make you tear up, but in a good way. And the ending is super satisfying. Pick it up and read it in October, it’s perfect.

I actually loved this book so much. I will say the end is pretty predictable if you’re paying attention but it was done in such an amazing way that I wasn’t even mad at it. This actually might be one of my top books for 2023. The romance is so good and cute. The buildup to their love is done so well. It’s suspenseful but not too agonizing and it didn’t just come out of no where. I loved it.

Cute and a fast read but had to take a few points off for some millennial verbiage. Not as good as 7 year slip
