Everyone needs a little Tolkien in their life

I picked this up because I'm curious about Tolkien's work and don't want to be overwhelmed by heavy lore yet.

And boy let me tell you, the stories, the poems, and everything is very very good and lovely. No wonder everyone likes Tolkien.

Now that has been settled, brb gonna buy Lord Of The Rngs.

Outlining Tolkien's foray into the world of Faerie, "Tales from the Perilous Realm" is a collection of his five independent works..The stories and poems explore new fantastical realms and time periods, other than the ingeniously portrayed realm of Middle Earth from his better known works..

But these stories are a far cry from the traditional fairy stories with fairy god-mothers, witches, princes and damsels in distress..There is more than meets the eye in Tolkien's Faerie..One might come upon a wizard or fly over the edge of the world to meet the Man-in-the-Moon or swim with mer-people living in the sea..There are dragons and giants living on the outskirts of the towns, where even knights fear to tread..Then there is the much beloved character, Tom Bombadil, going about his business in the Middle Earth..

Readers already acquainted with the Hobbit and the LOTR will find parallels between these tales and those of his fantastical mythology of Middle Earth..[b:Farmer Giles of Ham|2333|Farmer Giles of Ham |J.R.R. Roverandom was a cute story that I will probably read my own children in the future. Farmer Giles of Ham was quite funny and adventurous. The Adventures of Tom Bombadil was my least favourite; I personally found it a bit boring as most of the poems were about random things and were very non-sensical. Smith of Wootton Major and Leaf by Niggle were just okay.
