I had very mixed reading experiences with the stories in this collection. "Farmer Giles of Ham" was a rather child-like but funny story, a lot of the poems in "The Adventures of Tom Bombadil" were beautiful, and "Smith of Wootton Major" had a lot of the magic from Lord of the Rings to it. However, all in all the book was kind of a drag to read at times and lacked the mesmerizing attraction I'm used to for Tolkien stories.
Fun book that contained a collection of several of Tolkien’s short stories. Definitely more of a kids book... I kept thinking “this would be great to read to my kids one day”. I’ve been stuck in some deep Christian classics (pilgrims progress), so this was a sweet relief of fun secular kids stories in the middle to break it up!
One of my favourite Tolkien books so far. The story of Roverandom was the absolute cutest and I really adored the poetry as well. The explanatory parts about fairy-stories was extremely interesting as well.
I enjoyed these simple stories. However, I enjoy his stories set in Middle Earth much better. These were fun stories to listen to on audiobook but there was nothing outstanding about them, at least the Farmer Giles story. (I did enjoy the one about the baker and faerie land.) Now I can say that I've read all of Tolkein's works.
❤️
Mi mayor problema con todo lo que escribe Tolkien, es que me quedo sin elogios

adventurous
slow-paced
I've just realised that I haven't added this book as read. (proper) Review will come when I'll re-read it.
Note: Apart from The Adventures of Tom Bombadil (which is actually in verse) the rest of the stories are not part of the Middle-Earth universe.
Roverandom
Farmer Giles of Ham
Smith of Wootton Major

Reader Rating-
6th-death (Only because younger than 6th wouldn't be within the reading level)
Contains: magic, minimal violence, and fantastic characters (fairies and the like).
Does not contain: romance, bad language, or anything at all controversial.
Now for all you nitpickers, unless you've got a problem with fairies and pictures of trees, I guarantee that there is nothing wrong with this book.

It was okay, but isn't nearly as good as Lord of the Rings
