Nothing to Fear by Karen Rose is the fourth book in her series and a great addition to the genre of romantic suspense.

This book follows the story of Dana Dupinsky, who we've seen most notably in Rose's first novel Don't Tell. Dana is the director of an abused woman's shelter and faces her own past demons involving the death of her mother and the abuse by her ex husband. Dana takes in a woman and a child suspecting severe abuse unknowing that the woman is a cold and calculating murderess and the child had been recently kidnapped.

Ethan Buchanan is a security expert as well as a former marine who lost his best friend in Afghanistan. His godson Alec is the kidnapped child and he hunts them down in Chicago running into Dana along the way. Upon first meeting there is an obvious spark between the two people. While Ethan attempts to find his godson little does he know the woman he's growing to love is hiding her from his sight. The two battle a growing list of bodies that continue to hit close to home while Dana struggles with the fear of not being good enough to be loved.

This book was full of suspense that leaves you jittery and wondering what's going to happen next. For some reason I did have a hard time continuing to read it, in the middle the story seems to slow down and you have to force your way through, but once that happens the book reads fairly quickly. I'm not as impressed with the couple of Dana and Ethan. My favorite so far has to be Abe and Kristen from the last book I'm Watching You, they had such a good chemistry and I loved their characters.

The great thing about Karen Rose's books is that she always leaves you guessing. You know there is going to be a high body count but quite honestly you can't predict who is going to die. Unlike in other books, you know the character that you love isn't going to die, but in Rose's series, anyone is fair game.

I would highly suggest this book and series for those who love romantic suspense.

When doing good is a penance. Battered women’s shelter used to hide a murderer. Hacking and ID forging. Fighting and making up with friends.

Baby theft. Drugs. Abuse. Sexual abuse. Prison. Murder.

Action book. It was ok.

Started off a little slow for me. I think it’s because I am currently in some sort of reading slump. But it picked up the pace as I pushed through.

Ethan Buchanan, an ex-Marine turned security expert/PI on the road in search for his friend’s kidnapped son, Alec. He had no intention of meeting a woman.

Dana, an undercover psychologist who helps battered women, waits for a “friend” to arrive when she meets Ethan, and couldn’t deny the pull to the man with green eyes.

The journey starts with Sue who takes Alec and runs to the shelter she learned about. On her way there she leaves a trail of bodies. Little does she know that there’s a pattern involved in her killings. Sue has a list and checking it twice, she’s holding Alec hostage for ransom.

Karen Rose does a good job of keeping us in our toes. The book has multiple POVs and we are constantly left on a cliffhanger at a chapter, making us want to turn the page.

I liked how things planned out in the end. The way everything fell into place. The way the villain’s plans form and adjust but the way it falls apart was wonderfully executed.

I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. And I’m hoping that Clay gets a book of his own.
