This was a really good book even though I thought it'd be scarier/creepier. My favorite was The Nesting Place. I did not see that ending coming!

Some of the stories are semi generic but the ART. The ART. So fucking beautiful. Gorgeous. Read it.

This book was scary and beautiful. I am not sure if I should call it a graphic novel or what, but it sure was captivating. It was a quick read, but it freaked me out a bit. And the pictures were gorgeous.

This is such a beautiful and creepy book. The penultimate story knocked my socks off.

Reread* It's spooky season, which calls for spooky books!

The illustrations in this book are completely beautiful. I loved how each story had its own feel because of them as well. I love me some creepy short stories!

I was really excited about this but I found it just meh. It wasn't scary enough to be really scary and the stories were those kinds of vague "OOoOOoOOoooHhhhh, what happened!? Was it a ghost? Who was that spooky creature?" and that's not really my thing. I don't like open-ended stories and that's what these felt like to me. Slightly menacing, lightly spooky, not the horrorshows I remember from Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark which still give me nightmares.

Wow, what a seriously creepy and beautiful book! Despite its thickness, this was quite a quick read. The stories range from slightly eerie to downright haunting, and all of them were beautifully illustrated. I especially like Emily Carroll's choice to use a different style and color palette for each story. I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in twisted fairy tales, spooky stories, and/or bold and alluring story illustrations.
