It was a really easy book to read. I read it in two days and enjoyed it. But there are things in there that I didn't like, like pedophilia which isn't really condemned and the plot was pretty predictable except for the last sentence where I was like, okay, I didn't really see it coming. But overall it was good!

I love the format of this book! There were so many characters and they all had their own POV chapters which added to the mystery in a compelling way. I would have liked to read more about the drownings before Lauren/seen their connection a little more obviously. I also would have loved to learn more about the main characters back story - we don't know anything about her before Nel's death. I get why she didn't want to go back to where she grew up but I would have liked to know what all she was leaving behind to do so.
I liked this one way more than the girl on the train. Ultimately the reading experience was more enjoyable than the actual story.

I was intrigued by a premise that didn't pay off. I find a lotta mystery/thrillers lean on the drama of people hating each other or simply being terrible for no reason, and that's precisely all this is. Everyone hated each other throughout this book and I have no clue why. The drama of the drowning pool was barely skimmed and the ending was not only unsatisfying, but also pointless. I do like a small town interwoven with drama, and I don't mind unlikeable characters, but as everyone was horrible for seemingly no reason, this was ultimately just an annoyance to read.

Firstly I have to say this book is very dark in terms of the range of topics it covers. Check these before reading. However it isn't graphic apart from one occasion.
I can't rate this highly enough. I was lucky enough to listen to the audio version for free from my library.
The book switches between many main characters so it can take a while to get your head around but well worth it. One of the best books I've read in a long time!

honestly ... was expecting more but not sure why since i found girl on the train to be just ok. spent way too much time building to, ultimately, nothing. the constant switching of povs and between 1st and 3rd person was not executed well and really ruins the reader's immersion into the plot. the story doesnt develop very much and the characters were extremely one dimensional. the last phase of the book was really, really poorly executed. next time just write a screenplay instead (this format and storyline really would be better as a film since it is lacking as a novel)

Large cast of characters was a little confusing at first but the story had a lot of twists and turns and kept you guessing until the end, I like the relation of the river and "difficult women"
