okay, this was a lot better than the first one. it all kinda came together at the end, and no spoilers, but I the cliffhanger ending was v intriguing. I definitely feel more compelled to read the next book than I did at the end of the first

Everything Good and Bad from Book One, Only More
I continue to be in utter awe with Phoebe Waller-Bridges and how she transformed some of the most male-gazey, masturbatory fantasy into such a phenemonal show.
I will say when the writing overall is actually better than the first book and as a pure popcorn action spy drama it's great airport fodder that might even be able to raise itself up if it wasn't for just how clunky and unreal the handling of Villanelle and her many sexual encounters are handled.
I fully support writing what you want, which includes smut, if that's you're thing, but the objectification and handling of women is really not good. I also fully support ridiculing and tearing down the right wing and bigots, but there feels like their inclusion ends up being an excuse for the author to be an edgelord and continue their weird approach and othering nature of Queer folx, particularly around transness. The continued hate fetishising of the fat, metalhead computer guy is also really gross. All this makes me feel like the author is truly insufferable and not somone I would ever want to cross paths with.
If I didn't already have this I wouldn't have read it after book one and unless the others fall in my lap and I have nothing else, I'm not interested in continuing the series.
