An incredible prequel to the series. We see everything that leads up the the start of The Invasion from Elfangor's perspective, and learn some things about several key characters in the series. This has some incredible worldbuilding.

The Solace: A must-read in the Animorphs series. The Andelite Chronicles falls just before book#13, The Change, if reading the series in release order (which I recommend for an added dimension of emotion and character development to the story). The Andelite Chronicles is a prequel and the telling of Elfangor's story. I sobbed at the end of this story, and it continues to weigh on my mind as I continue the series. Applegate also continues to do what she does best: add and develop complex and very real-feeling characters that stay with me years after putting down the books.

The Dread: I am genuinely pressed to think of anything wrong with this one. More - I just want more.

Overall, The Andelite Chronicles is on my reread list - to capture all the details and weight, to reset myself after I've read the entire series, and because it's just such a dang good story. This book is one of my favorites, and I recommend it to everyone - this series needs more love!

I loved this little trilogy (just one book on StoryGraph) and the ideas and plot elements it brought to the series.

I remembered this being a favourite as a kid, but nothing could have prepared me for the revelations!!! Omg. I never really read the series in order before now so that also probably has something to do with it. Like Chapman? I was not expecting that. I only even has the vaguest memory about how Tobias came into it all. Just so good, adds so much to the world building but also as it's own story is just phenomenal imo
