I dont feel like writing coherent paragraphs:

- a solid debut. you can tell this is ritter’s first novel though (I don’t mean this negatively)
- wanted a nice easy read and this did the job. not super crazy and what I would personally consider a beach read
- going from sapkowski’s mile long chapters to patterson-esque chapters in this novel was jarring.  why can’t any of the authors I read write normal length chapters??
- she kind of belabors the point. it’s a bit much
- not a critique, but this is an incredibly obvious self-insert (and I don’t even know that much about ritter)
- brent and condor were too similar to me and up until the end I genuinely couldn’t tell the difference between them
- I liked that this was more than just an environmental mystery

- there was a lot going on in this book and felt a bit fragmented at times. I think it would’ve been better if she made this 350ish pages.
like, the whole “fake kaycee” thing and sheriff kahn having a timeshare in florida and being overall weird about kaycee just wasn’t addressed in the way I wanted it to.

- the word aphasia is misused and I don’t know how this wasn’t caught by the editor
- I did enjoy it despite it sounding like I didn’t lol

I really enjoyed Bonfire. I picked it up because I absolutely loved Krysten Ritter in Jessica Jones and it did not disappoint. I've never been one to read mysteries, but I watch plenty of crime dramas, so I enjoyed following the clues and putting all the pieces together.
