Recently reread, and I enjoyed Waiting for Godot a lot more this time. It’s an absurdly humorous play that’s annoying for the same reasons it’s funny.

I’d only read Play by Beckett before even though I really loved it, so I came in with high expectations that were very much met. I’m actually glad I read it before watching it performed.
The reason it’s so moving is that every single interaction is so deeply deeply human. The writing is stunning, obviously written by someone with a poet’s ear for the way language sounds and how those sounds feel no matter what the words themselves mean.
Beautiful beautiful beautiful, sad and funny and hopeful and bleak as life itself.
