I liked this but it was so close to being a five star. Is it wrong to stay I was hoping for it a bit more spice than what was given? The tension between Zac and Bianca was so good that you would think there would be more spice between them. I don't know that might just be me. The other thing I didn't really like was Bianca's "I'm going to tell him..." "on second thought no I am not".... JUST TELL HIM. Don't beat around the bush. It was cute the first half but when it gets to the 400 page mark maybe don't have that much of it. Other than those two little things, one being a personal preference and the other just being an irritating thing, the book was actually a good read. I believe this is my first Mariana Zapata book, so I excited to read more.

Mariana Zapata style where main characters finally admits their feelings after about 200 pages. Nonetheless fun and attention grabbing writing by author.

she's definitely more forgiving than me… their relationship felt more like a friendship to me and i didn't like zac that much — he just didn't do enough and when he finally did, it was too late. and the way he didn't have to grovel?

I love Mariana Zapata’s writing style and I love most of her books, but this was a miss for me. This wasn’t a slow burn, it was a no burn. For 92% of the book (I checked) it was 92% platonic. To start, it’s first person narrated by the mfc, but that’s normal for Zapata. It just doesn’t help when there’s almost no indication that Zac has any romantic feelings for Bianca. There was zero chemistry. And Zac was a pretty flat character, his defining characteristics are football and that he cares about Bianca. Also, him calling her “kiddo” throughout the book when he was a love interest creeped me out.

I enjoyed it! I liked all of it except that he still called her "Kiddo" throughout it all. It's not bad bad but it's kinda icky.
Not a fan of references to being a kid in a SO's nickname regardless if they fell in love as adults.
