This book was the first novel from Toltz that I read and it is probably one of the best, darkest, and most thought provoking books I have came across. I think it's not everyone's cup of tea, and it should be approached carefully. The book especially deals with the themes of <death, illness, afterlife, war, religion, and politics> . The concept of the plot and the writing is absolutely beautiful. I ended up highlighting so much of what I was reading as well as taking notes. 10/10 would recommend.
