Thrilling. Suspenseful. Fun expansion to the Uglies universe.

This book is wildly out of my usual genre (romance, contemporary, emotional books) however I was pleasantly surprised in how much I enjoyed it. Wonderfully written, an immersive, sci-fi setting that is easy to follow and be carried away with. A book with twists and turns throughout, with a cliff hanger ending that gets you scrambling to get the next book.

This book was alright but definitely for a younger crowd. I found the pacing unpleasantly quick and it gave very little time to the development of any side characters. I haven’t read the books after this one and I don’t think I will, I could have easily seen this being split into a more character driven two books (
Pre-bombing and after
) and the romance felt abrupt at best, and contained little to no reasoning or character development.
