One of my favorite Bardugo books so far - incredible read, I loved it more than the first in its series.

This book is dark, but if the first book was too explicit/intense for you, this one definitely felt "lighter", more-or-less. Still dark and horrific, but there was far less (on-screen at least) sexual violence, and overall I had a much easier time with this one. Again, still not "light reading" by any means, but worth noting.

If you've loved Bardugo's other books, this one scratches that same itch, and more.

Yooooooooooooooooo!!!

I could not consume this story fast enough! Everything that happened had my mouth hanging open and going through the whole spectrum of emotions.

Leigh Bardugo is a genius.

How much longer until book three though???

This was an outstanding sequel to Ninth House, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. Bardugo has done an amazing job of weaving together small details between books and gradually revealing the plot and reader questions throughout the story. There are so many twists and turns, and the story gets crazier with every page and makes these books just so addicting. I adored the character development from all of the main cast - Alex, Darlington, Dawes, Turner, Tripp and Mercy. There were parts that made me openly chuckle and gasp, and I enjoyed all of the complex narratives that were revealed in this book. I also adored the similar final lines between Ninth House and Hell Bent, and it sets the next book up quite well. I love these characters and these wild tales of dark academia, so glad I picked these up in BOTM!

If you like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, you’ll probably love Hell Bent - but bear in mind this is not YA and please mind the tags

This installment gave us a much more thorough exploration of the side characters in the story. I did miss Darlington being explicitly present throughout the story, but I feel like Bardugo made up for it with how interesting everyone else was. I appreciated that we got more one on one interactions between Dawes and Alex. Both of them are connected by how much they care for Darlington and their association with Lethe. However, as the story progresses, it is clear that both of them have more in common about their past than meets the eye. They also form a more solid trusting friendship as they go through the ups and downs of the plot. This sequel leaned in more to the horror aspects of the world. There are moments that delve into the dark history of Lethe and how magic has been used in the past for less than honorable goals. I found the plot points to be creative, but still neatly interwined. I'm looking forward to seeing how some of the seeds planted in this installment become relevant in the next part of the story. I think the first book is still my favorite between the two of them. However, I think this was still a solid sequel and I'm looking forward to see what comes next.
