Not my favorite fantasy, but it's the first in the series so I'm hoping they get better

This book sucked me in from the first pages. I loved the way the magic was, more in a twisted "you don't know whats real" way, I thought that was intruiging. I think the ending was a bit rushed and the writer could've spend some more time on Scarlett having to deal with all the things she saw and all the betrayal.
Overall it's a great book that I read in a couple of hours, I didn't want to put it down

I found it hard to start getting in to it, with Scarlett’s character boring me. However as I got through the book with me lost at some points (most points) in the book. However halfway through the book I found myself really engrossed and loving every second of it. I’m glad this didn’t end up becoming one of my DNFs as I enjoyed it except from a few plots near the end.

I loved the book a lot! It kept me interested the whole time and I was able to finish it in a day. Not sure if that is a spoiler but:
I wasn’t expecting that plot twist at the end but it was cool!
I absolutely recommend!

I liked how the book was written with Scarlett having synesthesia. It was nice to read how someone views the world similarly to me. However, this book just lacked the magic I was expecting. I’m not entirely sure why it didn’t hit the mark. Maybe because it was all layered in stress and Scarlett had very little time to enjoy the magic, and if she did enjoy it, she felt guilty for her happiness because she needed to find Donatella. So that means I never got to feel the wonderful magical vibes either. It felt more like an Alice in wonderland situation where all these magical wonderful things were actually just horrific or made you uncomfortable with uncertainty.

I liked the Julian romance and I’m hoping that now that Scarlett can relax about the game, maybe I can enjoy the magic too in the next book.
